I sold out all my paintings during the exhibition, it made me overjoyed and felt that I was so pampered. Everybody was kind and friendly to us, it made me feel just like home. I’ll come back next week. Those collectors who acquired my works expressed their love to my paintings, which were affordable to them; it’s even better that they brought their friends along. My motivation to paint has been to touch people, therefore, I would like to know people’s opinions on my works. It’s great to interact with those people who like my paintings. I was pleased to have photos with them, even they didn’t buy my paintings. The best part of this trip was a great result beyond my expectation. I knew nothing about this place and people before I came here. Now I feel so recognized that I’m full of energies to get back to my work.
Richard Young(UK)
It’s so impressive about the exhibition last year, so the attendance is a must for this year. Just like last time, my daughter studying at the art college come with me, in hopes of meeting her idol—Pasqua. Even though she didn’t meet Pasqua personally, but grasped the chance to see his latest works, and to exchange ideas with various artists at the exhibition, which all made this trip worthwhile.
I like the diversification in A.R.T., and the overall quality of paintings is excellent. It’s a converge of different cultures from the east and the west. It’s been my intention to meet different people and to show my works to more visitors, moreover to get feedbacks from viewers. The difference between A.R.T. and art fairs in UK is the British galleries take care of everything; while artists can meet collectors face to face at A.R.T.. The venue this year is larger with wider walkways, it’s better for watching paintings. The ceiling is better than last year, which makes the whole space more spacious and comfortable.
Kirk Bauer(USA)
My works were sold out last year, so I want to see the exhibition myself this year. It’s my first time to come to Asia and Taiwan, people here are so considerate and friendly.
I greatly value A.R.T. that I went to stay at the Kingdom of Tonga near Fiji for six months, because of the theme this year;”Transformation”. You can see my works this year are about the underwater world. My inspiration, techniques, color layout are very different from my innovation and breakthrough. I’m so happy that my works approved by the Art Director for the second time. Everything about the organizer is just great, all pleased me a lot.
Gabriel Picart(Spain)
It’s my second to be invited to A.R.T., I was very impressed from the exhibition last year. Some local artists exhibit their works this year, with whom I shared my story. The organizer even planned a special Spanish Art Zone. As to my transformation this year, you can see that the model shifts to my daughter from my wife. So the colors become more intensive and bright, to express the air of youth. I also have some works on the still life; but portraits are still my favorite.
It’s important to sell artworks, but it’s even more so for people to appreciate them. It’s the difference between galleries and museums. Actually I care more about the spiritual touches to viewers from my works. I admire dearly about the manners and conceptions from the organizer.
Pieter Wagemans(Belgium)
It’s my first to this exhibition, and A.R.T. surprised me a lot, with friendly staffs and well-planned organization. Compared to other art fairs, there are more realism artists at A.R.T., which makes me feel like home. There are artists from different countries to form an international art fair, not just a locally Asian one. It’s a great chance to watch other artists’ works via A.R.T., to come here next year again is my hope.
Cathy Pitts(USA)
Collectors saw and liked my works very much last year. And the Diamond series was sold out right at the VIP preview. It surprised me greatly. The quality of artworks is better than last year. The organizer is friendly and takes cares of every details, which makes me feel like home. The venue this year is much better and more spacious, to accommodate more visitors.
Maciej Gador(Poland)
A.R.T. is the best, especially in the excellent artists and the whole planning, even better than art fairs in Paris or London. It’s amazing to have some many foreign artists, and it’s just great to meet and interact with so many people. Everything is perfect. Visitors are amazing too. I’m so surprised that so many people like my works, especially people in Taiwan amazing me. I hope I can come back next year.
David Graux(France)
This is my first time visiting Asia. A.R.T. is well organized, and staffs are very helpful. I saw artworks in various styles. Everything’s just perfect, with many visitors and excellent introduction. It’s great indeed.
According to the theme-“Transformation” this year, I started new creations to present different series for review. I’m glad that exhibiting artworks selected by the organizer are also my favorites. I think to participate A.R.T. is good for my exhibition record. It’s also great to meet Anna, and artists from Argentina and China.
Rayka(Japan)
I attended the exhibitions at art fairs in U.S.A., Turkey, Germany, Italy and Holland, as well as Taiwan last year. To my surprise that people in Taiwan can actually accept Pasqua’s works, whom I thought would be more into figurative works. At A.R.T., I like paintings from Mario Gacia Miro and Ma Sing Ling. Ma Sing Ling’s paintings are quite abstract yet beautiful; the momentum is so powerful.
Sergio Martínez (Spain)
It’s my first to Asia, and it’s just amazing that I have received the invitation from such a distant country. I feel honored and surprised. A.R.T. is well planned and organized; the exhibiting works are great too. It’s nice to meet other artists at this occasion; I even met and got to know other Spanish artists in Taipei.
Ricardo Celma (Argentina)
I am excited and happy for my first visit to Taiwan and exhibition at A.R.T. Taiwan is a beautiful place. I attended many exhibitions around the world, most of them were like ‘fashion art’. To me, A.R.T. is the best art fair with diversified artworks around the world, which is rare in my own country. Artists are great to present various styles, which inspire me a lot. Everything is prefer in my eyes.
Anna Bocek (Poland)
It’s my first to Taiwan, a beautiful place with great people. Travelling is the source of my inspirations. I hope I can an ‘artist house’ in Taiwan, which is an area for a group of artists to paint in Europe. Artists can exchange and inspire each other. It’s very touching to me about the interactions between artists and collectors at A.R.T..
Ham Kyung Rack (Korea)
It’s my second to exhibit at A.R.T.. The environment this is much better than last year, more spacious and comfortable.
Jessica Lin (U.S.A.)
I exhibited at the first edition of A.R.T., when I was in the third grade of senior high school. Now I attend to an art college in U.S.A. and feel more confident in my artistic creations. That’s the reason I participate the third edition again. Only the mono-acrylic two years ago, now I’m transformed to apply the multi media, including oil paint, pencil, chalk and others. The themes are more various and diversified; I used to draw from photos only, and now I know how to use my imaginations.
The purpose for this year is to expose my works to the public, instead of selling them. I’ve also prepared my own website and Facebook, so interested people can get to know me. The service and exhibition from A.R.T. are great. I fulfilled my purpose to have a great exposure. It also made me very happy to have people encouraging me, as well as meeting other artists and exchanging updates. It’s very inspiring.
Roger Rishab Tibon(Philippines)
A.R.T. is more spacious this year, so visitors can enjoy paintings leisurely; the transportation is convenient, and the floor is very clean. This is the best art fair I’ve been attended ever, since it focuses on artists, instead of galleries.
Gilles Vanackere (France)
This is my third time to A.R.T.. I brought 3 works and sold 2 of them last year; for this year, I have 6 of 8 paintings exhibiting at the site, and 2 standby at the hotel. For the theme this year -- “Transformation”, I have changed my photo works from being colorful previously to currently black and white in 4 of them. I edited my photos to make the pure colors a small portion, to focus on the line structure, instead of colors. I believe visitors who buy my works must love some spot in it, which is the part I care much.
Christiane Vleugels(Belgium)
People really friendly and helpful.
Zhang Yuying(China)
A.R.T. is a wonderful platform for learning, exchanging, and exhibiting. It’s spirit-lifting. The harmonious interactions among people and friendly local culture I witnessed last year have impacts on my works. This edition of A.R.T. is even better than last year, with a more spacious exhibition hall and an even more diligent organizer. Every detail is attended; staff is friendly and helpful; visitors swarm in; the VIP preview is popular. Perhaps it’s owing to the successful publicity. It’s great to me. More visitors indicate the success of A.R.T..
The theme this year is “Transformation”. It’s good for artists to transform themselves. Thus visitors can enjoy different works every year, which in return makes the exhibition getting better and better. It’s also remarkable to focus on individual artists, instead of galleries. Artists attend the exhibition in person can be inspired by others’ works as well.
Jenny Gu(China)
In my opinions, the curation of A.R.T. is creative yet thoughtful. It’s great to see all artists named on the UFO at the entrance, very eye-catching. Of course I found my own name and took photos with it. The VIP preview is fabulous, with great atmosphere.
Wang Xuedong(China)
It’s my first to exhibit at A.R.T., which is, to me, not just a commercial exhibition, but also a cultural embodiment, to convey the charm of aesthetics to the public.
Zhang Shiying (China)
Greatly appreciate the platform offered by A.R.T. for my first participation, which is deeply touching. Staff and volunteers work very hard in their professional and dedicated way, yet the energy of joy permeates the site. It makes me feel happy and relaxed. With lots of time spent to talk to visitors, I they are earnest and willing to communicate their feelings to painters. People understand and appreciate my paintings, which are about the daily life.
Visitors are knowledgeable; conversations with them also inspire me greatly to think about the application of new media for more development and possibility in the future. I would like to attend the next edition, and would vigorously engage myself in self transforming and upgrading. I’ve donated my paintings for the Hundred Celebrities charity event for 3 years in a row, which is simple and genuine without the organizer’s intervention in the donation. It’s my pleasure to take part in this event continuously in the future.
Yao Xiaobao(China)
It’s such a pleasure to exhibit at this A.R.T..which is very open, embracing all kinds of contemporary or traditional styles. Visitors are quick to grasp the spirits of works, and communicate with me fluently; some of them even offer their feedbacks about positives/negatives, which makes me feel that they do understand my works. I don’t mind about the negative feedback, because that’s the motivation to progress.
Lu Chengxiang (China)
This is my first time to exhibit at A.R.T., a well-organized art fair. Participations from volunteers has enhanced the operation of exhibition. It’s touching that the VIP preview was so vibrant, and the Hundreds of Celebrities event meant so much. In general, A.R.T. is quite good, though smaller in scale than that of in China.
However, all details have been attended and taken good care of. The organizer also offered the assistance for packing. In China, artists have to do that on their own. The level of visitors is good, having their own understandings which resonate my original motif and conception. I’m pleased to have someone understand my works.
I agree with the theme –“Transformation”-- set by the organizer. It’s vital for artists to keep on improving themselves. It’s a great time to attend this exhibition with some friends this time, and to exchange some ideas with other artists. Surely I will participate the exhibition again if an opportunity available.
Yu Lian-Chun (Taiwan)
This is my third exhibition at A.R.T., very different from my own exhibition before. Some friends talked me into participating A.R.T., grasping the opportunity to exchange with other artists. So I did it, and feel great. It’s necessary to talk to the visitors vis-à-vis at A.R.T., so I take the time to explain to them about my works. It’s also part of the aesthetic education, and a great chance to promote arts.
Wen Tsung-Yi (Taiwan)
The organizer of A.R.T. is so meticulous to have such as good number of visitors. It’s an aesthetic festival with great social education implications.
Liu Jui-Chin(Taiwan)
I think the planning, publicity, exhibition and volunteers from A.R.T. are excellent.
Liang Hui-Min(Taiwan)
The curator for A.R.T. is just great! Volunteers are helpful; professional cleaners attend their duty continuously and efficiently. The whole environment has been remaining at the best condition.
Yeh Chin-Cheng(Taiwan)
At A.R.T., the overall atmosphere, personnel arrangement and exhibition layout are great.
Wang Wen-Cong(Taiwan)
I’m very touched by the dedication, pro-activity, and efficiency from the organizer of A.R.T.. For example, the administrative staff would pro-actively communicate and offer services 24 hours a day. They are meticulous in every detail, such as the greeting cards sent to artists for the new year. I do notice that the artists’ name on the cards are printed, instead of filling the blank spaces like others do. I feel being respected.
Yao Yuan(Taiwan)
It’s a well-planned exhibition. I agree with the principle from A.R.T. to focus on artists. But it seems to me the percentage of galleries increased. It’s terrific to set the theme as “Transformation”. I’m also on the way of seeking my transformation.
Lin Show-Chang(Taiwan)
The organizer is very dedicated, and staff is very helpful. The efficiency of exhibition is just awesome.
Cheng Chu-Hsuan(Taiwan)
It’s my first time to exhibit at A.R.T., with numerous visitors. Most of the time, my works are exhibited at galleries. It’s an extra-ordinary experience to talk to visitors vis-à-vis.
Shang Saho-Chen(Taiwan)
Seemingly there are more artists to exhibit at this A.R.T.; it’s also great to have more people from the art circle know that the idea to focus on artists at the exhibition is just remarkable.
Chiu Wut (Taiwan)
Each edition of A.R.T. is better than before. Excellent works exhibited are just like the other art fair, if not better. My suggestion to the organizer is to structure in a even more nouveau perspective and aspect, such as including videos or installations; the exhibition will be more diversified if the percentage can reach up to 10% or even more.
Zhan Zhen-Yan(Taiwan)
I’m touched since my registration to A.R.T., along the way from my qualification review, communication with staff, to their assistance in the exhibition as well as the maintenance for the environment. Their dedication shows in every detail.
Yang Hui-Chen(Taiwan)
The operation of A.R.T. is rather prudent and rigorous. Even though I’m a two-times exhibitor for A.R.T., but my qualification review was rejected, due to my conceptual draft only for my works. The organizer requested me to apply for review after I have finished my works. I took a few months off and travelled to Japan, in hopes of grasping inspirations for my works. I feel over-joyed for the opportunity to exhibit at this exhibition again.
Lin Ya-Ping(Taiwan)
The exhibition at A.R.T. makes me feel great and moved. I’ve engaged in Chinese paintings for more than 3 decades. In view of continuous trials and the more diversified motif, I’ve started to paint with oils two years ago. Both Chinese and oil paintings are just the media for artists to convey their thoughts and concepts. The point really lies in the way of depiction.
Ku Ya-Ren(Taiwan)
A.R.T. booth is spacious and comfortable. My booth is located in front of the area of Hundreds of Celebrities. After the even closed, the panels are replaced by sofas, which makes an open view. The tour guides stimulate the atmosphere; the interactions between artists and collectors are more vivid. It’s a great opportunity to meet with other artists, exchanging ideas and motivating each other. I get acquainted with staff and volunteers from my exhibition at A.R.T. for 3 years in a row, which makes me feel all of us improve ourselves together.
One of the interesting parts to exhibit at art fairs is to meet foreign artists, such as Peter from Belgium, who paints flowers as I do, but the expression of our flowers are different from each other. Even with the language barrier, we still can communicate through the interpreter. It’s a valuable opportunity for me. Christiane came to see my paintings; she likes them a lot. She brought me her cards, and I gave her my painting album in return. Christiane was pleasantly surprised, and we had photos to record this historical moment of “when east meets west”.
Yang Chin-Yao(Taiwan)
The dedicated preparation in all aspects from the organizer is so good to create a platform for artists and collectors to exchange on. It also displays the market trend here in Taiwan. The point for artists to exhibit at A.R.T. is to prepare everything well, such as personal network and collectors.
Tung Yao(Taiwan)
I think everything about A.R.T. is great, which allows artists to express themselves at their best and activates the art circle. Thus, the public can be exposed to great arts and upgrade themselves spiritually.
Kuo Yen-Fu(Taiwan)
I think A.R.T. convey an important message; that is to paint itself is not just a happy thing to do, but also good for building self-confidences.
Lin Jen-Shan(Taiwan)
I exhibited at A.R.T. last year; the atmosphere is free and open. It’s great to encounter with collectors; moreover, it’s a platform for artists to exchange and inspire each others.
Tseng Hsiao-Te(Taiwan)
I feel great. I didn’t exhibit my portraits in lare-scale, but small landscapes.
Yao Chih-Chieh(Taiwan)
I wasn’t available for the first and second editions. In response to Mr. Lu Tsung-Tsan’s urge, I participate A.R.T. with a group of artists from Hsin-Chu. It’s just fantastic to talk with collectors and other artists. My special thank goes to the volunteer who takes care of my booth; her dedication is so touching to me.
ANO(Taiwan)
In general it’s more or less like that of last year, only the time is shifted from late March to early May. I have more than one month extra to prepare for my exhibition.
AER(Taiwan)
There are many visitors, especially young people, which is similar to that of hotel fairs. It’s important to have entertainers take their part, to connect with different channels. The only suggestion from me is to have a grand opening ceremony, since it’s an important routine for other art fairs with musicians and host/hostess. Artists will go for that. I feel great for the rest, such as sufficient staffing and nice services.
Yang Chang-Ching(Taiwan)
I like the artistic creation, especially the moment in working, which grants me the sense of existence. It’s also an exit to channel out the spiritual or social pressures. It’s great that at A.R.T., my works communicate directly with viewers. What I like most is to concentrate on the moment, which is the life itself to me.
Darren(Taiwan)
I feel honored to exhibit at A.R.T., since my major was in the design. It’s also pleasant to exchange ideas with everybody, and get to know many friends.
Kuo Yu-Chun (Taiwan)
The event of A.R.T. is successful; it’s a good opportunity to exhibit and present my works. Artists can be approached freely by the public and collectors without the intervention from galleries. The global, positive and exquisite perspective from the organizer is really helpful for art lovers. Prof. Lee Sun-Don is highly appreciated. I learn a lot from this exhibition. Firstly, it’s great to communicate with other artists; secondly, it’s helpful to reflect my own position from my own observation in the contemporary art trends, as well as how to express my inspirations.
Lin Zong-Fan(Taiwan)
I think the structure of A.R.T. is good and perfect. However, it seems not sufficient to promote to the public. If with the publicity in the TV commercial, the event would be more eye-catching.
Chi Lien (Taiwan)
Every aspect about A.R.T. is great.
Hsieh Tong-Liang(Taiwan, represented by Hsieh Mei-Huang)
The organizer of A.R.T. has been working hard, with all of us together. It’s also highly appreciated that the exhibition is not based on the platform of galleries. Artists can zealously communicate with collectors and art lovers face to face genuinely.
Chung Tun-Hao(Taiwan)
vIt’s great! Exhibitions at A.R.T. are diversified, yet unified at the same time. In which we can find a certain direction among diversifications. The staff for exhibition is very diligent, the security team is great too.
Wu Shang-Yung(Taiwan)
A.R.T. is great in every aspect.
Cheng Chen-Wen(Taiwan)
A.R.T. is great. It’s necessary to have bonds on life and affections for the materials I draw. That’s the reason I draw bananas, grapes and flowers planted by myself; kindly grandpa and grandma. The transformation is not about the appearance, but the inner side above-all. Taiwan is a beautiful island; it’s a transformation to expand the depth and amplitude in the beauty of Taiwan.
Dong Hao-Yun(Taiwan)
I found the information about A.R.T. on the Internet, signed myself up and passed the qualification review. The staff is diligent, dutiful, and dedicated. Many people with expertise asked questions to me; it’s helpful for me to explore the concepts.
Huang Teng-Hsuan(Taiwan)
I’m very touched by exhibiting at A.R.T., which is excellent in the general design, service, and exhibition. This is an international art fair I would highly recommend to others.
Lai Tian-Ming(Taiwan)
I would like to thank A.R.T. offering me the chance to find so many perceptive people out there. All of my works have been represented by galleries, so I don’t know the people who bought my works, or any collectors. The volunteer from A.R.T. is professional, understanding the features of my works. She even told me that she knew my previous works. The organizer is well-organized in the publicity. I didn’t tell friends about my exhibition; they come to the art fair and surprised that I am here. Wang Tsei-Hsiung, my teacher from the Normal University, also visited the show; and he got the information from the media, not through me.
感謝A.R.T.
感謝A.R.T.
此回參加A.R.T.
Ovas Art Gallery
也想來A.R.T.
今年A.R.T.
Selina
今年的A.R.T.
每一屆A.R.T.
今年A.R.T.
來到A.R.T.
今年A.R.T.
R.A.Y. Band
第一次參加A.R.T.,心情期待又喜樂,覺得A.R.T.
今年的A.R.T.
這屆A.R.T.
The challege presented by the 3rd edition of Art Revolution Taipei does not stop at asking the attending artists to be extremely selective about their works, it in fact continues to push the artists to strive for greater perfection, to lift to a higher level. Artists not only are asked to refine their works, they need to be versatile, innovative, and creative, and they need to transcend the limits they set for themselves.
“It’s not like I enjoy pushing the artists or anything,” I gave a forced smile at the directors’ meeting, “it’s just that I feel there’s no other way if we want the guests who come to A.R.T. every year find their visit worthwhile.” I’m pleasantly surprised to see, however, that within only 40 days after the “unofficial” application for the Taiwan Section began, we saw not only the booth space reserved for the Taiwan Section fully booked, a portion of what’s originally designed for the International Section has now to be reallocated to accommodate the spillovers. How remarkable these artists are as they demonstrate their talents in an entirely new fashion as evidenced in their works of “transformation.”
All beings’ lives would come to an end once they become ossified. To keep on creating something new and innovating is to prove our existence worthwhile. We see the hope of the art community in Taiwan amid our demanding request of the artists - - our artists are so talented they were just never given the opportunity to prove themselves.
There’s an entirely new presentation strategy behind the A.R.T. 2013 - - keeping our composure and getting ready for the stunning admiration. To our artists, your works shows that Taiwan’s art is definitely good enough to challenge the world scene!
What’s it like being grateful? When you have so many great artists from all around the world swarming in to apply for A.R.T. 2013 due to the huge success of the previous two editions of A.R.T., that’s how grateful you are.
What does “keeping our composure” really mean? That’s when you have a name list, a pair of aces, and a great deal of fine artworks in your pocket, and you light up a cigar acting cool.
And what do we really mean by “getting ready for the stunning admiration?” Well…, would you like me to reveal a little bit of that? “Cheer and drink with Emperor Kangxi” will most definitely shock you! Besides, we are already ready.
Lee Sun-Don, the Art Director of the third edition of A.R.T. (A.R.T. 2013), has something to say: "Without knowing why, the second edition of A.R.T., A.R.T. 2012, has achieved an artist hit rate of 91.18% (meaning 91.18% of the attending artists had sold their works). We are now pulling back the target for A.R.T. 2013 -- we'll be happy with just 70% hit rate! People usually set their targets upwards, but we art people like to think backwards and don't want to tangle with the numbers, which would be very unartistic."
A.R.T. 2013 will dedicate 20% of the entire show space to an exhibition emphasized more on academic, experimental and avant-garde works。There's Damien Hirst in the UK, Philippe Pasqua in France, Jeff Koons in the US, Takashi Murakami in Japan, and ....in Taiwan? We welcome those who have the guts to come and join us, and together we'll be at the forefont of waging a wave of a new genre of art!
