Brand New Art Revolution Taipei 2022 has come to a successful close on August 8. This art fair, which focuses on the “NFT Metaverse Immersive Experience” theme, announces the arrival of a brand new era of art. After the four-day exhibition and VIP preview, boundaries between collecting traditional art and NFT crypto art have blurred, and a group of “cross-border collectors” formed.
Lee Sun-Don, Art Director of Art Revolution Taipei, states that this A.R.T is the beginning of a brand new era of art. Art Revolution Taipei has strived for innovation and breaking the status quo in art fairs for ten years. With the complete halt of the exhibition due to the pandemic in the past two years and the rise of NFT crypto art, AR, VR, XR, and the concept of the Metaverse, the new field of art fills with infinite possibilities.

This art fair, the first in Taiwan to display “NFT Metaverse” immersive experiences, also exhibits over 3000 pieces of artworks, allowing collectors with interest in both “traditional art” and “NFT crypto art, AR, VR, XR, and the Metaverse” a space to experience and collect across “realities.” A gentleman in the tech industry interested in cryptocurrencies and NFTs visited the exhibition for the “NFT Metaverse” theme. However, after the visit, the gentleman collected two artworks of traditional media from the International Artist Grand Prize Competition.
Many guests also came to the exhibition in hopes of experiencing standard art fairs. Upon learning about the NFT Metaverse theme and experiencing AR personally, they’re pleasantly surprised to discover the newfound diversity of art. Interestingly, NFT Metaverse, 3D, AR, VR, and XR are some of the newest technologies, but seniors and children enjoyed the art fair most. A mother-daughter duo visited the exhibition by chance, experienced searching for the cute creature“Cute and Joyful” through AR, and the daughter asked the mother to collect the artwork. Upon collecting the artwork for her daughter, the mother learned that not only does this piece of NFT come with a physical print, but upon displaying the work at home and pointing your device’s camera at the print with an APP, the piece comes to life in 3D. To the mother, NFT artworks are far too amusing, and she hopes to collect another for her office.

Art director Lee Sun-Don states that this art fair is by far the first in the world to present AR, VR, MR, XR, and NFT concepts in a comprehensive art form. Though there is no conclusion about these technologies and their presentation by far, NFTs shouldn't be inflexible but lively and maneuverable. This Art Revolution Taipei is a global announcement that this is the new art form.
Furthermore, the “Song Dynasty Dian Cha Experience” and “Fashion Runway” AR jewelry experience by “Art and Design•GP DEVA” allowed guests the experience of trying on virtual jewelry and taking photos, which are then minted into exclusive NFTs. The combination of history, culture, technology and art this art fair has been highly praised by visitors, in particular, the “AR Jewelry Experience” that’s consistent with the curatorial theme. A guest brought a piece of jewelry home upon the experience.

Art isn’t inaccessible, out of reach, or for only a minor group of people, nor is it a tool for publicity stunts. Art director Lee Sun-Don states that art is the inner reflection of artists, and through art creations, viewers resonate. Since the first ART, one main objective has been “art close to life,” upholding the spirit of “creation” and “innovation,” all artworks, whether traditional or virtual, are at an affordable price point, allowing art to be more accessible to all.
This year, through modern technology, a new environment where people can interact with virtual and real objects is created. With NFT immersive experiences, futuristic art is no longer beyond our reach. All may enter the multiverse of art. This art fair, like Art Director Lee Sun-Don said, “art has broken through boundaries- technology and spirituality quantum entangled; this is the beginning of a new field of art, the beginning of a new era.”
