The International Artists Grand Prize Competition (IAGPC), the world-class art event organized by Taiwan International Contemporary Artist Association (TICAA) in affiliation with Art Revolution Taipei (A.R.T.), has attracted 4,262 unique artworks by a diverse group of artists from 81 countries, who will compete for the coveted Grand Award. The competition continues to expand its global reach, with the number of participating artists increasing each year.

The IAGPC announces the list of finalists following a rigorous jury process, selecting 371 artworks to be exhibited during the 2019 Art Revolution Taipei (A.R.T.) from April 25 ~ 29, 2019. The highly competitive Grand Award and Gallery Awards will be determined during the course of the exhibition, and announced on May 31, 2019. In addition, the winning Grand Award artist will receive a solo booth to exhibit their work at A.R.T. 2020. Art lovers from around the world are invited to attend the highly anticipated art festival.

The IAGPC supports the view promoted by the Art Director, Prof. Lee Sun-Don -- to connect Taiwan to the art world globally via Art Revolution Taipei (A.R.T.). By selecting outstanding artworks and providing unsurpassed access to exceptional artists from around the world, A.R.T. 2019, in its eight iteration, has become the largest art exchange platform in Taiwan.

Along the way, many artists have gained notoriety after competing in this grand event; among them, Kurma Venkata Siva Prasad, the self-taught artist from India and the winner of Grand Prize in 2015, who has become a rising star and is now highly valued by collectors. Jeni bev Biktimirova from Russia, the winner from 2013, said after participating again at A.R.T. in 2014 and 2015, she found many inspiring artworks that motivated her a great deal, and she also hopes other artists will be able to participate as she did. Former Gallery Award winner, Mustafa Yuce from Turkey, received press coverage by Turkish media and has become famous in his own country. The surrealist from Spain, August Vilella, winner of the Grand Award and Chairman’s Special Award, exhibited at the renowned Louvre Museum in Paris, won Best Artist at the Tokyo International Art Fair, and also won Best Innovative Art at the Global Art Awards in Dubai, 2017.

The selected artworks demonstrate a wide range of cultural and artistic styles, with some artists choosing to illustrate keen observations on today’s diverse and multifaceted contemporary society. Included artworks are realistic, abstract, surrealistic or expressive styles in combination with oil, silk, watercolor, pencil, charcoal, pastel, pen, oil crayons, spray paint, color ink, leather, acrylic, digital imaging, silver salt images, fabrics, needlework, and 3D printing media creating various types of high-quality artworks. Other mediums represented will be stone engraving, bronze sculpture, glass sculpture, ceramic sculpture, stone relief, wood-carving, photography, thang-ka, collage, cartoon and comics, 3D printing sculpture, and more.

Since its debut in 2011, the Art Revolution Taipei (A.R.T.) has garnered much attention in the growing global art fair scene, with an astonishing rate of 89.66% of exhibiting artists declaring sales. In 2018, completed sales and the number of participating artists hit a record high, when 92.56% of the 436 artists sold their works. Unlike conventional art shows organized around commercial galleries, A.R.T. places the artist front and center, with every booth resembling an artist’s solo exhibition. This pioneering curatorial vision has led A.R.T. to become the Asia’s premiere art fair.

Selected artworks will be exhibited from April 25 ~ 29, 2019
at the 9^th edition of Art Revolution Taipei.
